The thing that made me join UKIP was when I found out that every EU citizen had the right to live, work and vote in Britain. When the 10 new countries joined the European Union in May 2004 we gave rights of residence to an additional 73 million EU citizens. This meant that a total of 450 million EU citizens had a legal right to live in Britain, and this would have serious implications for the future of schools, housing and hospitals. When I realised just how many EU citizens had the legal right to live in Britain it made me feel that I had to campaign for Britain to regain control of its borders.
We believe that Britain should be an independent self-governing nation and not part of a European Federal Superstate. We welcome support from people who were previously with any political party and statistics have shown that we draw support more or less equally from all the major parties.
I want a referendum on the new EU Treaty, British jobs for British workers, British fish for British fishermen.
We are a non-racist party who believe in parliamentary democracy. We are campaigning to get control of our country back from Brussels. We appreciate all the help we can get in this monumental task and every little bit helps.
